Lucy was still pretty young compared to most of the other teachers there…only twenty-two, almost twenty-three, and just graduated College the year before. And of course it was due to all of this that that she still found herself partying on the weekend. And of course because she wasn’t living in a huge place like New York City, her previous home, she often found herself running into students. It was always incredibly awkward, really…it wasn’t so bad back when she was merely a teachers assistant, still in College, still expected to party. And most of the awkwardness was probably all in her mind. But she was always un-aware of what to do in such positions. It always depended on a few things…how much she’d had to drink, and how the students reacted. If she’d already had a few drinks it was pretty simple. She’d either ignore the student, or if it was one she liked, she’d buy them a drink. Which was definitely wrong of her, considering the fact that her students were all underage. But she could actually remember being that age…she hadn’t been an angel, and none of her students were either. And fine, there were occasions where she went as far as to actually party with her students. Nothing major, they’d just sit around the bar and throw back a few drinks. It was probably one of the only reasons she wasn’t some kind of hated teacher…because despite this, she did take her job rather seriously. She didn’t like people being late for her class…she hated people being more than five minutes late for anything. And unlike a lot of teachers, she took her students seriously. She graded them seriously, and treated them just like they were normal students. Because to her, they were…they just had a few “issues”.
But that was all completely besides the point. The point was, of course, that on occasion she ended up doing a few stupid things whilst having a few shots with some of her students. Like one time when she’d actually gotten completely hammered, playing quarters, which would always be the undoing of her, and ended up passed out in one of their dorms the next morning. Definitely not the best thing ever…luckily she’d managed to sneak out and could deny anything to do with that night. And there was one particular night, involving one particular boy, that she’d rather forget about. Daniel De Luca. The kid was a pretty good student, admittedly…and incredibly charming. She found it hard not to like him. And the two had actually ended up partying together…which something had told her wasn’t a good idea, but she’d been too buzzed to listen to that something. No, instead of going home with her dignity she had enough drinks that she was bordering staggering drunk, a borderline she usually tried to stay away from, and well…it god a little heated. She hadn’t slept with him, thank-fucking-god. And he was eighteen years old, she’d checked the student records just to make sure. She still had a bit of dignity…but just barely. And of course ever since that day, which admittedly wasn’t that long ago, she spent most of her time trying to avoid the guy. Which was quite hard considering she taught him…but all she had to do was avoid being alone with him. Because she couldn’t have anything more to do with him. Really.
Lately she’d even taking the avoiding thing as far as to go home and grade her papers rather than stay in her office like she usually would. But on this particular day she didn’t exactly have plans on going directly home after work…so instead she found herself sitting in her office, which was connected to her classroom, at her desk…which was admittedly, not her favorite place to grade papers. Still she was making the best of it, with her shoes off and her legs crossed, trying to make her work fast…and her door was open. Because it was still late Summer, and despite where she was living, it was rather warm out, at least on this particular day. And the school’s air conditioning was quite horrible. Maybe leaving her door open wasn’t a good idea, considering the fact that she was still trying to avoid someone…but apparently she had not thought that through. At least not until she heard a familiar voice and looked up, a sigh escaping her lips. well, i hold my tongue - - I USE IT TO "ASSESS" THE DAMAGE FROM WAY BACK WHEN IT MATTERED DANNY WAS THE KIND OF BOY THAT GOT HIS WAY. 'cos see, this is what he did, he crept into your head and unlocked those forbidden places even you yourself were scared to go into, he would take nothing, but he would make sure he knew everything that was in there, creep back out, and start a nice conversation. you'd never know. when he seemed so easy to relate you, you'd think it was somewhat magical, when he helped you feel at ease just by dressing up his words in a smile, you'd think he was magical. that was just about the secret to danny de luca's charm. he simply understood. the mechanical workings of a human mind were not that hard, and if they did seem so, danny would only feel more obligated to break into them. really, did this seem to complicated? after a while, it becomes just a reflex. a defense mechanism. a way to keep that smile on your face around. no, not many would know this about danny, but behind the jokes, the charm, and that pretty smile, he was an angry, angsty, and rarely genuinely happy young man. but that isn't the point. danny de luca? charming, smart, possibly even the rudest boy you'll ever meet. usually, every bone in your body would tell you to hate him, but somehow, for some stupid reason you'd want to go against it.
he always had a way of just stepping into the biggest messes with a smile slapped across his face, he really had no intention of fixing up these messes either. no, danny liked to roll around in them instead. and thats all you needed to know to justify his reasons for being there, for moving slowly through the empty class and not even knocking on the door when he got there. "now, tell me," he said as he traveled into her office towards her, "is it just me being a bit paranoid, or are you avoiding me, lucy?" lucy, break down that "miss rigby" barrier. at first, she would probably cringe at it, he could see it in his head before it even happened. she wanted to be miss rigby to him, and that should be the end of it. its never that easy with daniel though. he gave her a look as his hands were set slowly on her desk. "'cos if you were, that would kind of hurt." step one, inject the guilt.
he ran his hands through his hair as his eyes explored her features, her smooth skin, and those lips. he could remember only barely what they tasted like. oh, yeah, did i forget to mention the kiss? it wasn't like danny to party with teachers, really. he thought it was stupid, irresponsible of them -- yeah, danny might seem like a free spirit but he was annoyed by older people that tried to fit right into the scene. now, don't let your mind go straight to his father, his father was a a lot of things, but he had a life of his own, and it didn't involve fucking or even partying with any of the students. maybe adopting them. ha. that wasn't even a joke. he licked his lips and looked her in the eyes, well, he knew a more than just a few tricks. lock & load, it made it harder to just dismiss him. and it only just then really occurred to him, why was he playing this like a game? 'cos there was.. a possibility he would lose, maybe? "i think we should talk." his voice stripped bare of that tinge of sarcasm that often followed him around, no arrogance, no jokes. they did need to talk.

Lucy was really unaware of how to act in this situation. The smart thing to do would probably have been to suggest he leave, or even to leave herself…but that was also incredibly rude, and it seemed there was no avoiding this anymore. This was exactly the reason she tended to stay away from her students…because it only led to awkward situations and trouble, and it just wasn’t worth her time. Even though she’d enjoyed the kiss at the time, she’d take it back if it would mean avoiding this awkward discussion. Quite honestly she had no idea what he wanted from her…part of her thought he just wanted to tease her a bit and then leave, no big deal. But then there was always the option that he wanted some more, or something, which was of course, out of the question. Or maybe he was even here to tell her it was best to forget anything had happened…but while she was hoping for the last, somehow she doubted it was that. And of course the strangest part of it all was that despite the fact that she knew she should dislike the boy, she liked him. He was charming, it was impossible not to. Even if at the same time he was currently playing jump rope with every single one of her nerves.
The blonde couldn’t help but awkwardly flinch as he called her by her first name…no, this was definitely not a good thing. She had half a mind to ask him to stick to Miss Knox, at least while they were on school grounds, but decided against it as she heard what followed up, frowning a bit. She couldn’t help but feel bad…yes, she’d been avoiding him, it was pretty obvious. But of course she wouldn’t actually say that. Instead she merely shrugged her shoulders and sighed lightly, sitting in a rigid and uncomfortable manner, despite the fact that the chair she was sitting on was quite comfortable. “No, I was most definitely not avoiding you.” She lied smoothly, standing up for the simple fact that she felt awkward sitting when he was standing. “I’ve just been busy. I do have a life, you know.” Her words were joking, she was merely trying to lighten the mood…although she did have a life. One that was steadily growing more and more complicated. Weeks ago she’d had a normal life, just doing her work, sleeping, partying on occasion…and now she had her ex boyfriend pretty much stalking her and a student wanting to “talk”.
Another sigh left her lips as he said as much…sounding quite serious, without his usual air of sarcasm, which she found herself missing for once. He was probably right…they needed to talk about the fact that they had to forget it happened and not mention it, and he had to leave. She was quite sure she could possibly get fired for this…if not for the fact that the school had a lack of teachers. And he could possibly get kicked out, which would make her feel guilty. “You’re right, we do need to talk.” She replied reluctantly, biting her bottom lip and looking at him, refusing to admit that she still found him attractive without a few drinks in her system. “I think we should forget about what happened. Because I’m your teacher, and what happened was wrong.” She said slowly, trying to make him understand…which wouldn’t be hard, because it was a smart kid. She was pretty sure he understood anyway, and quite honestly, she didn’t know what the hell he was doing here. She could have been nice and told him to sit down…but she kind of wanted him out of there quickly, and so it was probably best if they both remained standing. “I don’t usually do that with my students.” ( outfit , 639 words , tagged for danny de luca , <3 )
