For the whole of Ruby and Jack’s friendship, Ruby’s thoughts had never really lingered on the ‘more than friend’s factor’. She couldn’t lie if anyone asked her that. When Jack had first told Ruby about him liking her, it was all kind of a shock. It had happened so fast, just as if it hit her right in the face. But that wasn’t the case. When Jack had in fact told Ruby about his feelings, it’d made her happy; in an odd way. She was glad that someone completely honest wanted her. Even though at that point she wasn’t completely obvious to her own feelings for him, they started to show; when she gave it some thought though, the image of her and Jack as a couple became slightly more real life potential. Sure, she was confused about her feelings for a while, who wouldn’t be when the guy you’ve been best friends with for practically your whole high school life, just blurts out that he likes you. But she promised herself that she’d give this a shot. And besides, it wasn’t like she didn’t want a relationship with Jack. She really did.
Jack had asked her out; as in a date. And when Ruby thought about going on an actual date with him, it made her slightly more nervous then she wanted to be. She was positive that that was a good thing though; only because she was also kind of excited at the same time. And being excited was something Ruby hadn’t felt in quite a while. Before all this she didn’t really have anything to get completely excited over. Ever since her break up with Daniel there was just negative after negative. The only real exciting thing for her before this moment was getting an A+ on one of her art assignments… which Ruby was used to… so nothing really new. But this, this was defiantly new. Better than new. It was probably one of the best moments of her life so far. Well, not best, but it was one of the moments in her life that she’d defiantly never want to forget.
Ruby knew for a fact that her relationship would be different with Jack. Only because he wasn’t an asshole unlike Daniel was. He was sweet… caring, protective. Everything Ruby had actually wanted in a relationship. And now she practically had it in her fingertips. She wouldn’t have changed this moment for anything in the world. A few people knew about their kind of relationship; Dallas, who Ruby had confided in with her feelings towards Jack. Delilah, who… well, didn’t really do anything. But she was there… and obviously knew about it. And some other kids at school who just listened to the rumor mill a bit too much for Ruby’s liking.
She’d texted Jack earlier to set up a meeting. She didn’t want anything too ‘date-ish’, only because well… she preferred to be casual. And casual dates made things a bit less awkward for her. If she wanted to be flashy she would’ve invited him to the cinemas or something like… the park, but the park… was a bit too ‘When Harry met Sally’ for her. So the city café’ sounded pretty much as casual as you could get for a date. Plus, it wasn’t that expensive. Clothing and Makeup. Something Ruby had been dreading. What was really appropriate looking for a date anyway? She just decided on a pair of black jeans, a plain white shirt and then a black hooded jumper, which was, in all honestly, something she’d wear on any casual meeting with Jack. She didn’t really bother with makeup. The less the better right?
Ruby decided to call up a taxi, considering she had no way to get there. The only other option was to walk, and that would take hours. The whole car ride to the café’ was filled with a million thoughts. Ranging from ‘I wonder what he’s going to wear’ – which was really disturbing and creepy, so she pushed that thought out immediately. She didn’t want to scare Jack off, too. The last thought that stayed in her head until she arrived at the café’ was ‘I wonder what he’s thinking?’ Which was again, another creepy thing to be thinking, but Ruby was honestly curios about what would be going through his mind. Was he nervous like her? Or was he dreading it? Ruby preferred the first one over the second one.
When she walked into the less populated café’, she decided to get a seat further up the back. Simply because she found it a bit awkward to be near people. And besides, she’d rather privacy. She didn’t want it to be like in the movies how people just swoon over the teenage couple and how the old people mutter to their spouses how they use to do cute things like that. Blah blah blah, that was what Ruby wanted to avoided. She nervously waited for jack to arrive, with those billions of thoughts still scouring her mind.
kso, this sucks XD lolololo. but it'll be better next time.

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows Unlike Ruby, Jack had spent at least half of their friendship thinking about how perfect they'd be together. But, honestly, he'd never thought it would actually happen. He didn't have some huge plan on how to get her to be his, he hadn't thought they'd ever actually end up dating. Even if he liked to amuse himself and think as much, he'd always kind of figured his feelings would remain a secret until he finally got over her. Or maybe they'd go out drinking and he'd pour his heart out to her, and she'd hate him forever. Neither way sounded too good to her. Too bad for Jack it seemed he didn't even need any rum in his system to pour out all of his feelings...or, well, not exactly pour. He was pretty sure what he'd said that made such a huge impact was just two words: It's You. He'd been trying to do the thing where you ask the girl advice on how to get a girl, in hopes that they help you make your way into their heart? Yeah, it wasn't working so well. Eventually he'd ended up saying the girl he had his eye on his mother fucking Delilah Brown, and somehow it all went from there. He'd randomly blurted out that it was in fact her, and then signed off, too scared to face what she was going to say about that. For days he'd done everything he could to avoid her. He even went as far as to block her on AIM. And then he realized he couldn't just run away forever. He went out and stole himself a cell phone, hoping she'd text him or something...and when she didn't he knew he was going to have to make the first move. To repair their friendship, if she was even interested in repairing it. He'd just have to tell her to forget everything and they could go back to being best friends. No big deal. But somehow one thing lead to another, and here he was, getting ready for an actual date with her.
It was no big deal really...just a date at a cafe. He wasn't going to bother dressing up or making himself look neat, instead he just threw on some jeans and a plaid button-up t-shirt. The usual. Surprisingly he wasn't nervous in the least...it would be just like being friends with her. They'd go out and eat lunch, talk about whatever...and he could probably hold her hand if he wanted to. Was he allowed to kiss her? That was probably a no...but soon enough he would be able to. It was just all so unbelievable. Maybe he could kiss her on the cheek...yeah, that sounded safe.
Sighing he threw on a pair of dark converse and looked at himself in the mirror. It didn't matter how he looked, he knew that. Ruby had seen him much worse off than he was on this particular occasion. That was the best thing about dating his best friend, he could probably go to one of their dates looking like a cow and he didn't think she'd mind too much. Why he hadn't just drove the two of them there he didn't really know...but she'd said they were to meet there, so he hadn't really questioned it. He'd drive her home anyway, no matter what she had to say about that. For the simple fact that he was hoping for maybe a goodbye kiss? Not that he'd admit it. He was definitely going to kiss her on the cheek though...why wouldn't she want that? She liked him too, right?
After a short car ride he was finally there, and his nerves still hadn't exactly kicked in. Which was surprising, since he wasn't usually so unerved, but he wasn't complaining. Of course the second he stepped foot in the place he saw her...he'd recognize her anywhere. Not just the hair, either. Just everything about her. Walking over to her with a grin plastered on his face he quickly kissed her on the cheek before he could change his mind, then took a seat across from her. "Hey." He replied, looking like he was the happiest guy on earth. And, well, in that moment he probably was.

At first Ruby was completely clueless that Jack had feelings for her. She’d been pushing him to tell her about this ‘girl’ he liked. And when he said that it was her, she kind of wished she hadn’t of pushed him. It was obvious from the countless days that they hadn’t talked that it was really awkward now. Every time she signed onto aim to see if he was on, he was offline. That was odd, especially since Jack had known the times that Ruby like to sign into aim. She’d thought for a split mini second that he’d blocked her. But then she thought against it. Only because she didn’t want to think that her best friend would even do such a thing. But if he did, it wasn’t like she’d be mad. She’d be a little pissed off, only because the whole time the only person she’d wanted to talk to was him. She’d hoped that he’d call her – even if he had to steal (god forbid if he stole) a cell phone or make a call from a pay phone. But alas, nothing.
Ruby didn’t really know what to expect of this date. It was new to her. Not the whole date thing, but the whole date-with-your-best friend-now-turned-boyfriend thing. But she just wanted to make it normal. They were still best friends… now just with extra limits? That extra limits thing made Ruby the slightest bit more nervous than planned for. She really wouldn’t mind holding his hand; it was just the kiss factor that would be new to her. But she wasn’t so sure if there would be any kissing. It wasn’t like she would object to a kiss on the cheek… but when she thought about it, it had made her feel weird. Jack and her had been friends for ages, as long as she’d remembered, so of course it was going to feel weird kissing your best friend, but she’d work up to that.
She didn’t really care how he looked. He could’ve come up covered in dirt… and stuff, she wouldn’t have cared. Ruby didn’t expect much. You could say Ruby’s expectations were low, but that was just the way Ruby liked them. She didn’t grow up with the whole silver diner cutlery, so she didn’t expect much of anything in her life. She wasn’t the one to have such high standards, and besides, it was her best friend. Casual was their kind of forte’ rather than some people who expect the whole high and mighty shit from their boyfriends. And besides, they were just going to café’. Nothing fancy really there. She’d gone there a few times with Jack when they were just friends, but the just friend’s part was now out the window.
Her nerves will still driving her insane. She was even shaking slightly, which she hoped wouldn’t show because that would raise questions. Questions that Ruby defiantly didn’t want to answer. But she would have to… only because she didn’t want to piss Jack off. She’d been pretty good at pissing people off in the past two weeks or something. First Delilah Brown then Dallas Wells. All was good between them… sort of, now. But still, the last thing she wanted was to piss of Jack, fuck everything up then have zero friends. She was obviously over reacting, that was because of her nerves, and also because of the fact that she didn’t want to screw their friendship up. Their friend ship was probably the only thing that could make their relationship better, and if their friendship was gone, they’d just be boyfriend and girlfriend.
Countless minutes Ruby’s head had snapped up at the sound of the Café’s door opening and closing. There was no sight of Jack yet. He’ll be here. She’d said to herself, trying to calm herself the heck down. Even though the opening and closing of the door did nothing for her nerves, but when he finally arrived, she was positive that there was now a huge smile on her face. A reaction to seeing him, but a good one. But her reaction to his kiss on her cheek was probably the most… awkward. She laughed quietly and smiled up at him, sure that her eyes were gleaming with happiness. That cheek kiss had, surprisingly, made her less nervous. But when he said Hey, the nerves just veered up. “Hey,” She replied, still smiling slightly. And still shaking. “…It’s not much, but it’ll do, right…?” Yeah, great one. So much for making it like a ‘normal friend date’. She didn’t want to mention the whole… venue picking, only because she didn’t want to make such a huge deal.
ololol epic fail.

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows Jack honestly couldn't have cared less where the fuck they did it as long as they did it - no sexual pun intended. It was pretty surprising that he actually knew where the date took place, because really, he would have been just as excited if they'd decided to go to the dump and eat old banana peelings. It wasn't like they'd been dating for a year, not yet anyway, so he didn't exactly have to take her anywhere fancy. Weren't you supposed to reserve five star restaurants for anniversaries? Would they even have an anniversary? God he hoped so...he didn't know if they'd last forever and get married, but he still wanted to stay with her for as long as possible. If they did stay together forever and get married? Cool shit. If not? Hopefully they could still be friends. But he'd had a long time to think about whether this was right enough to jeopardize their friend ship, to take a chance at ruining everything, and really? It was. He was completely in love with her, and even though she hadn't exactly said as much yet he was pretty damn near sure that she loved him too...either that or she would, eventually. She definitely liked him...if she didn't would they even be there? Unless she was just using him for a little self esteem boost, but that didn't even seem possible. What kind of evil human being would do something like that? Definitely not his Ruby. So why was it, if she was the one who didn't feel as strongly as him...why was he so much calmer? Why wasn't he the one shaking? THen again, maybe it was because of that. Because he was so fucking sure that everything was going to be fantastic that he didn't have a reason in the world to worry.
Ruby, however, it seemed, did, or so Jack noticed as his eyes swept over her. Of course she was gorgeous, that was the first thing he noticed about her...but she was always gorgeous, so it wasn't surprising. Even in her plain clothes, which he barely even noticed, she looked like a goddess to him. Cue the cheesy compliments? Give it a few minutes. The second thing he noticed, though, was how fucking nervous she looked. The poor girl (his girl, he kept reminding himself over and over again) was shaking. Was she cold? It didn't seem too chilly...should he offer her a jacket? Wait, fuck, he didn't have a jacket. But, no. She wasn't cold. Just nervous...which made him smile a bit. Hey, he couldn't help it. How nervous she was just made him know that she really did like him. Looking around the place at her comment about how it wasn't much, he shrugged his wide shoulders (which, most didn't know, actually played many sports), and grinned at her. "The place doesn't matter so much as the person I'm here with." He replied, knowing perfectly well how corny he sounded, but not really caring. "And the person I'm here with looks ridiculously good looking today. But I'm sure she already knows that."
Yep, cue the zoolander jokes...and the corny compliments. But can you really blame the guy? He was finally getting to date her! Her. Ruby Hunter. He could finally compliment her, and mean it as more than a friendly way. He could kiss her on the cheek and she wouldn't look at him like he was an alien. He could take her out on a date and know that he was, in fact, taking her out as his girlfriend...and only his. No Daniel, no one, none of those jackass guys who were going to treat her like shit and trample all over her heart. No, now that she was his, at least for the time being, those fucks wouldn't get a chance near her. His new number one mission was to protect Ruby at all costs...then again, hadn't that been his mission since he pretty much met her? And how he could totally kick that shit up a notch...and like, punch out guys who tried to hit on her. Even though Jack was a gentle giant, he would definitely do as much if he thought it was good for Ruby. He had done as much before...when the two of them had gone out and got drinks that one time...and that creepy guy had shouted vulgar words at her. Of course Jack, with the slight drinking problem he had, had been completely drunk off his ass...but even so he managed to knock the poor guy into next Tuesday. "So, I get to pay for everything, right?" he asked eagerly, probably sounding completely pathetic. But come on! He totally wanted to pay for Ruby's food and drink and whatever...just don't ask him where he got the money, he'd denied it all. Really, Jack was only one to steal when he needed it...but he did need money, right? So that was a good excuse. And as for the phone...well...it was needed in the twenty-first century. He'd missed so much without his phone. status • finished words • 848 words without coding tags • ruby lyrics • checkmarks - tai credit • awww, they're cuuute. <3 [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ruby knew the risk she was taking by dating Jack. The risk of potentially ruining their whole friendship if things didn’t work out; she knew that the outcome could be bad. But she was positive things would work their own way out. You couldn’t always have a perfect relationship, but Ruby was going to try. That’s all she really could do. Try to make things ‘perfect’, even though she still wanted to keep things normal between them. She didn’t want to be the whole couple that goes out every waking moment. She still wanted to have the friendship between them. It’d just be… different. If they ever did breakup, Ruby was going to try her best to keep their friendship alive. She didn’t want their friendship to suffer, never, but that was just one of the risks she signed herself up for. It’s like if you go into the Amazon rainforest, you can’t be certain if you’re going to get eaten by an anaconda, you just have to suck it up and take the damn risk. Which was something Ruby wasn’t so sure she could do, but she was here, with her best friend, going out on a date. That, by itself, was a risk.
Jack had mentioned during their last aim conversation, when he was coming clean about everything (well, not everything. he wanted to push the subject away.), of how he thought Ruby was going to use him to get over Daniel. That was not the case. At all. Ruby wasn’t the one to use people; Especially not her own best fucking friend. She was practically over Daniel anyway. Besides the tiny little reminders that would always be with her, Ruby was perfectly happy with where she stood. She didn’t need to use Jack to get over Daniel, he was practically distracting her enough to get that asshole out of her life. Ruby could feel Jack’s eyes sweeping over her. She always had this little complex when people looked at her; that complex even existed between her and Jack… it was just an automatic thing about her. Her nerves will still all over the place, probably causing her to look a little cold, and if Jack had asked her, she would deny it. Only because she didn’t want to worry him out. Ruby laughed a bit at his comment about the location. She could feel her cheeks flush, which had never happened before in her whole entire lifetime. “You’re sweet.” Wow that was totally smart. But really, he was. No one had really said those cute and slightly corny (but she wasn’t complaining) jokes to her ever. And it was even better to have Jack say them. She laughed even more, feeling slightly a bit more relaxed. Their friendship, which was totally over powering the moment, made it easier to just… be with him. “She does…” That was a lie. Ruby didn’t really think of herself as gorgeous, but she went along with it. “And she’s sure… that her date is totally giving Edward Cullen a run for his money.” Okay, lame jokes start nao. Everyone had been cracking those Twilight jokes lately, they just kind of stuck with her. Besides, it was fine for Ruby to say them.
The awesome side to now having the boyfriend factor with Jack was just the fact that now he’d be more protective over her. That sounds really creepy, but Ruby liked it. She liked knowing that someone was looking out for her. She liked knowing that Jack would jump through rings of fire to save her. Which was what he’d been doing through their whole entire friendship. She’d ruled it to the fact that it was awesome to have your best friend as your boyfriend. Just knowing that now there was going to be a little bit extra more… care, love…? But Ruby would do the same for Jack. Out of the pair, Ruby was probably the real violent one. But, she knew from past experiences with Jack that he could get pretty violent, too. It wasn’t something she liked to see, considering she would never be able to live with the fact if one day a dude through a really fucking good punch straight the head and killed him, but she knew that he would always be there for her. And man, if any girl did much as lay an eye on Jack… both of her instincts, best friend and girlfriend, would kick in and that girl would be wishing she was a guy.
At his comment of paying, Ruby through him a look. It was kind of a ‘I can fend for myself’ look, which she’d given him many times before. She really didn’t want Jack to have to pay for everything. She’d prefer to pay for herself, only because she didn’t want to feel like a charity… and because she didn’t like taking money from anyone. Unless they like, stole it from her. Which hadn’t happened… yet. You never really know what could happen at this school Everyone was shady. “You don’t have to feel like you have to pay for me, Jack,” She said with emphasis on the have, to make it clear that she would be paying for herself.
they're sooo cute XD

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows What was it with girls these days and refusing to let guys pay? Was it that big of a deal? Guys were supposed to offer to pay, girls were supposed to be all flustered by what gentle men they were and accept the offer. He was pretty damn set on paying for Ruby, though, I'll tell you that. Even if he had to let her pay for herself and then secretly slip the right amount of money in her pocket when she wasn't paying attention. Which was something he was very good at, really. Sneaking around, reaching into peoples pockets without them noticing...it was probably his biggest talent. Huh, maybe he really was a vampire...there were definitely a lot of rumors going around about him being one. And in every picture of he and Ruby he did look like he wanted to eat her...but, really, the fact that everyone was calling him a vampire made him laugh. Especially because some people, really stupid paranoid people, probably believed it. They probably wouldn't if they got to know him, and got to realize that he was the least complex, least mysterious, caring, kindest, boringest person on earth. There really wasn't much about him that was special, and he definitely didn't have any fangs hiding behind that pretty smile of his. Although being a vampire would be totally bad ass...he could go around sucking blood. And turn Ruby into a vampire and live with her forever...or until she got bored of him, either one.
Jack had to admit, though, he was totally hoping they'd be one of those cheesey couples. While some found them annoying they were his favorite kind. Who didn't love seeing couples hold hands and do stupid shit like that? He didn't want to be like Delilah and Dallas, and fight with her all the time...or ever. And he didn't want to be like Ace and Holly who couldn't even say they loved each other without some kind of huge spazz-fight breaking out. Besides, why shouldn't he tell Ruby he loved her? He'd told her a million times back when they were just friends. Did things even really have to be different now that they were dating (admittedly it still felt a bit odd to say, but in a good way). Why should they be different? Hopefully the only real difference was that he'd get to hold her hand, and maybe kiss her, and take her on dates...and call her his girlfriend. All which probably felt really weird to her just felt right to him, as creepy and stalkery as that may have sounded.
His smile couldn't help but widen as she called him sweet. Sure, he'd totally been aiming for sweet, but it was nice to know he'd got it right on the dot. Even if it was a completely corny kind of sweet, he liked it. It was exactly what he was aiming for in their entire relationship...well, at least for the time being. Hopefully later on they'd get more serious...and get married and have children and be amazing. Um, that's a joke. Kind of. And he liked that she was making some effort to be corny back...or maybe she wasn't trying, and it was just natural for them to be the corniest people alive. Either way he couldn't help but laugh at the little edward cullen joke. Again with the vampires? "I know, right?"
He said, still smiling widely. He had a feeling he'd be smiling for the entire date. "I hope you know that somehow you guys got the entire school talking about me being a vampire. It's kind of entertaining." He admitted. "Although I like to think I look a bit more like Emmett than Edward. Just saying." Yeah, he'd seen the movie...who hadn't? He was pretty sure he'd actually watched it with Ruby, but he couldn't quite remember. And it wasn't like he'd enjoyed it or anything. Just as he'd foreseen, Ruby wasn't willing to let him pay for her. Which should have made him scowl, but instead he just laughed at her, and shook his head. "No, Ruby. I want to pay, just this once. I swear we won't be those people that the guy always has to pay...but I just want to pay. Can I please pay?" He was pretty much begging already...so he decided to stop it off with a cute little pout and a bat of his eyelashes. status • finished words • 748 words without coding tags • ruby lyrics • checkmarks - tai credit • awww, they're cuuute. <3 [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ruby, who also most defiantly knew that Jack was going to try to get her to let him pay, was also trying to just pay for herself. She’d gone through this before. Him wanting to pay (even as friends), and past experience, he never let her pay. But today, she wanted it to be different. She wasn’t going to be one of those girlfriends who just let her boyfriend pay for her. Absolutely not. Never. But she knew this wasn’t going to be easy. That was a known fact. It was like now they were going out, it would be harder to change his mind. If she had to, she’d pay, and if he offered to give her the money back, she’d refuse. Easy like that. But she didn’t want it to cause any shit between them. If it did, then she’d take the money. As rude as that sounds, she just wanted this to be fight free. Not that they had many fights anyway. The only funny side to dating Jack was probably everyone saying that he looked like a vampire. She thought that was pretty cool. And with the whole twilight craziness, it was pretty understandable. But when she thought about it… he did kind of look like one. It was either his broad shoulders… or the way his face looked (no, she wasn’t teasing him!). It was pretty funny the way people carried on though. With all the twilight jokes. Ruby copped a lot of them from Dallas though, but she didn’t mind. Little petty things like that never pissed her off.
Ruby had seen firsthand the problems that Delilah and Dallas had. They fought – a lot. And god, Ruby hopped they wouldn’t be like that. Her and Jack never really fought anyway. The closest they had ever really been in to a fight was about her stalkerish ways with Daniel. It was kind of a good fight, though. As odd as that sounds, it really was. That was probably the fight that had enlightened the fact that, Ruby was, in fact… crazy. But, god would she pray if anyone called her crazy. That’s a bit off topic, but still. People should never call Ruby crazy. Ever. They would just be asking for it. She kind of hopped that she could say some cheesy things, though. Even though she didn’t want their relationship to be completely cheesy, she wouldn’t mind to say ‘I love you’ back to Jack (if he even said it), and holding hands… well, Ruby wouldn’t have a problem with that. They’d held hands in a friendly way sometimes. Just as a joke, but now it was serious. It would feel weird though. Only because they’ve been friends for as long as Ruby’s memory would let her recall on. But she’d like it. Secretly.
Ruby wasn’t the one to dwell on the future. She preferred to take relationships one step at a time. She’d learnt that if you focus so much on the future (Example: Daniel), you get your hopes up. She’d wanted to do so many things with Daniel (as perverted as that sounds, she really did). Little corny things like… maybe get married. But he broke up with her. Dwelling on the past starts nao. But, alas, nothing more would ever happen between the two. That’s why she didn’t really want to get her whole hopes up on the date. Or anything. Ruby laughed and grinned when she saw Jack smiling. She really hadn’t seen him this happy in… fuck, never. “It is entertaining… some of the stuff they come up with.” That was a fact. Some of the things, the jokes, they’d come up with were intelligent yet humorous. “At least you don’t get all the things like ‘Ooh, does he dazzle you?’” She joked with another, yet wider grin. “Oooh, you do to!” She corrected herself with a slight laugh as he pointed out that he thought he’d looked a bit more like Emmet than Edward.
Ruby had prepared herself for paying, but when he played the puppy dog eyes card, her heart melted in her hands. She thought, long and heavily about how she could get him to cave before she did. But halfway through her thinking, the waitress had came over and asked what they’d like to eat. And before Jack could object, Ruby handed the girl two twenty dollar bills. “I’m paying. End of story,” She said quickly but in a whispered tone just so Jack would hear. She ordered her usual, the double cheese burger, large fries and the café’s ‘famous’ strawberry milkshake. She turned to Jack, with an accomplished smile on her face. “What did you want…?”
they're sooo cute XD

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows Why Jack wanted to pay quite so badly he didn't know. Sure, it was the nice thing to do...and pretty adorable. Especially the whole thing where two people reach for the check and touch hands...but it seemed she didn't want to be some corny couple. And she wanted to be some kind of feminist who did everything for herself. He wanted to keep pressing her on the issue, of course, just this once...but wasn't that kind of jack ass-ish? To try and force your girlfriend into letting you pay for the meal? Hadnt' that made Robby-Ray and Lilly's mom get in a fight on Hannah Montanah? Not that...he watched it. Okay, maybe he did sometimes, but he got bored. But, really, the guy was pretty fucking sure he wanted to be the one to pay. Just because it was much more romantic and well...right. He may not have been some douche who thought girls all had to wear ankle-length skirts, but he wanted to pay for his girlfriends meal god damn it. He even had a plan. He'd just throw his money at the serving lady, not giving her a chance to pay for herself. No big deal...he'd probably get an odd look from the waitress, but what-fucking-ever. At least he'd get his way, right? Okay, that definitely sounded completely whiny baby-ish, which Jack wasn't...well, okay he was. But only about this one little subject.
Really, he couldn't see anything bad coming out of something that felt so great. So what if they got in a few fights? Fights were normal for functioning relationships, they were no big deal. They'd work it out, they'd have a good long run...and then hopefully, if something made them have to break up, they'd go ack to being friends. Or so he was telling himself. Somewhere deep down he kind of knew it was impossible to ever be quite as close with her, especially if they broke up on bad terms. So he'd just do whatever he could to try and stay with her forever and ever and ever, and never get in a single fight. Hey, it could totally work! In some ulternate universe...but in Fitzgerald? Surrounded by a bunch of crazy douche bags who would probably kill to see their relationship epic fail? Yeah, not so much buddy. But lets not burst his little happy bubble he was living in, shall we?
He couldn't help but laugh at the dazzle thing. Did people really ask her that? Did he dazzle her? Er...probably not. He wasn't exactly as...special looking as Edward. How anyone could mistake him for a vampire he didn't understand. He wasn't really all that pale. And, okay, he usually had some weird look in his eyes that looked vampire-ish...but his goofy grin probably threw it off, so how did that even work out? Whatever, if they wanted to call him Edward, or Emmett, or even Jasper, he didn't care. As long as he was dating Ruby he was completely happy. "Who even started all the vampire rumors?"
He asked, mostly out of curiosity. It wasn't like he really cared. I mean, if someone was spreading a rumor about him having Aids, or Ruby being pregnant with his kid, that'd be different...but it was just a harmless, stupid thing. One that only idiots could actually believe. The second Jack saw the waitress walk over he was ready to pounce with his brilliant plan...until she did it first. What. The. Fuck? Was she a mind reader? Sighing loudly and shrugged his shoulders then stuffed his money in his pocket, giving her a slightly-annoyed-but-still-teasing look before thinking for a moment. How could he not have thought about what he wanted to get? "I'll have what she's getting...only a chocolate milk shake instead. And two things of fries. And two burgers." He said, grinning and passing the waitress an extra ten dollars, just in case Ruby hadn't given him enough. Yeah, he kind of ate like a cow...but didn't most teenage boys? And Jack sure was fuck wasn't one of those skinny pretty boys. He was...huggably soft. Slightly chubby in areas, but also pretty muscular at the same time. " You're evil." He said once the waitress walked away, but a smile was on his lips. "I just wanted to be like a real couple and pay for you this once...but whatever, you ruined all my fun." status • finished words • 738 words without coding tags • ruby lyrics • checkmarks - tai credit • awww, they're cuuute. <3 [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Of all the things to fight about, Ruby really hoped that her wanting to pay for herself wouldn’t get Jack to mad. She didn’t really know what the big deal was. Was Jack going to get a fucking award for paying for her? That, she didn’t know. She was quite happy with paying for herself. Sure, she liked the fact that he was being a perfect gentlemen, it wasn’t a bad thing. Ruby had never really experienced a ‘proper gentlemen’ in her whole entire life… but couldn’t they just be… normal? Pay for their separate meals instead of having to pay for the whole thing? Totally rude if you think about it, but Ruby would rather pay for herself than have a huge fucking baby-ish argument over something as little as Jack wanting to pay for her. She’d understand if he got mad though. Sometimes she could be a bit of a stubborn person… everyone should know that by now. But, in all honesty, she’d rather be stubborn then let people walk all over her. Unless Jack had like… a plan, which would totally, throw Ruby off her own plan, but she was pretty sure he’d give up. He would have to, right? Unless he decided to crack a bitch, and act like a little boy until Ruby gave in; which happened quiet often.
In Fitzgerald… there were many people who think it’d be funny to fuck with other peoples relationships. Which was something that Ruby worried about. She’d seen firsthand what the little fuckers had done (and still continued) to do to Dallas’ and Delilah’s relationship. It wasn’t a nice thing to watch. And it was certainly not something she wanted to go through. Ruby had a lot to lose if they’re relationship fucked up badly . The bad circumstance would be if they couldn’t be friends anymore. Like, ending the relationship on bad terms. Jack was the closest person she really had at the school. He was basically like, her only friend. That sounded pretty sucky for a senior. But she wasn’t the populist girl in the school. In fact, no one was really popular there anyway. Everyone was crazy in their own little way. But if it ended in good terms… that would be heaven. Though she wasn’t completely sure if it’d ever end anyway. But you could only be so sure. It was dangerous to have a relationship at Fitzgerald. Especially with pedophiles like Alex around.
In some what really awkward in cheesy way, Ruby could really say that Jack dazzled her. Though if she admitted it, people would give her really strange looks. She didn’t really care though. If they asked, she’d just have to answer them, wouldn’t she? Jack really did look like a vampire though. She couldn’t really deny it. But it wasn’t such a bad thing. With the whole vampire craze going around… she thought it was kind of… hot, sexy…? Wow, placing those words against your best friend was weird. But Ruby would just have to get use to it, right? At the question of who started it, Ruby let out a small laugh and grinned. “… I think Ace might’ve… I really can’t remember.” She’d admitted with full honesty. “Everyone’s talking about it… so I kind of lost track,” She added, again with a small laugh. It was true though. Everyone was bringing it up at some point in every conversation she’d been having.
Ruby was satisfied with her work of handing the waitress the money before Jack had a chance. It was evident that he had the same plan. So to do it beforehand made the satisfaction even better. She’d heard his loud sigh and laughed silently to herself before he ordered. Ruby knew the portions Jack ate, so it was no surprise when he got two burgers and two things of fries. He’d always ate more, which was rare for a guy. But that’s just the way Jack was and always had been. She laughed at his evil comment. “… You love it,” She joked, still wearing the satisfied grin on her mouth. And as predicted, he went all whinny on her. Though it wasn’t full blown yet, it still hit her pretty hard. “… What’s so real about paying for me… when I’m capable of paying for myself…?” Ruby questioned him, with a slight frown forming at his ‘ruined all my fun’ comment. “If it means so much… you can pay for my cab home…?”
eppppppic fail.

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows Jack didn't have a short attention span. He wasn't the kind of guy who seemed like he suffered from ADHD, and jumped around in conversation, and couldn't wrap his brain around a sentence to save his life. He could have pressed the paying issue, he could have chased down the waitress and forced his money upon her or something. But he decided not to do any of that, because it seemed to give Ruby some kind of pleasure to pay for her meal. Probably because it made her feel like some big feminist or something along those lines, he didn't know. He just knew it wasn't enough of a thing for him to throw a hissy fit about. At least not in front of everyone else, that is. Maybe he'd throw a joking around one on the ride home, just to take a shot at being funny...even though most people didn't quite get his humor. Not that his humor was really out there, it just wasn't all that funny to anyone but himself. And Ruby, of course, but he had a feeling she just laughed at his jokes to shut up up half the time.
Of course his giddy happiness could only last so long. When would the time come where he'd start yelling at her, and fighting with her, and their relationship would turn into some kind of demonic scary hell-ish thing? He couldn't even let the thought pass through his mind for more than a milli second. So what if he was probably blinded by his happiness, too blind to think such realistic thoughts? It was better to bask in his happiness while it was around to not get to experience it at all. Of course no matter what he'd never treat Ruby like any of those other assholes did. He wouldn't just use her for sex like Heath did, he'd never even think about it. As much as sex with Ruby sounded amazing...he knew neither one of them were ready for that. How were they supposed to go from pushing each other around in a teasing way one day to being that...close? To not be uncomfortable seeing each other in the nude? He kind of blushed faintly at just the thoughts. How did friends go from best friends to sexual partners? Suddenly...none of this seemed like such a good idea. But of course that thought only lasted a minute before Ruby's oh-so familiar voice shoved it out of his head.
"Ace? I'll have to thank him for that." He said, his goofy smile never leaving his face. He was sure his cheeks were going to fall onto the ground at any minute. "You can't believe how many times i've heard 'is she your brand of heroin?'. I'm not even kidding. The vampire jokes will never stop. Of course it also makes people terribly afraid of me, and think I'm all badass, so I don't have any real complaints. I've never been so popular in my life." That was true. He wasn't exactly one of the regulars on Sammy's blog, so people only talked about him when they were talking about Ruby for the most part. Until the whole vampire thing, of course. As much as he wouldn't admit it to anyone, ever, it was nice to have a little bit of attention from time to time. After a while it would probably get tiresome, but the rumors would die down eventually. How long could vampire jokes still be funny?
"I'll do more than pay for your cab." He objected, looking highly offended. "Hello? Guy with a car? I'll drive ya." He said, smiling a toothy smile at her. Of course his car was stolen...but it wasn't a particularly nice car. And it had just been sitting in someone's lot with a "for sale" sign on it. Had he really been in the wrong? Plus the idiots were stupid enough to leave the keys in the ignition. If anyone was to blame it was the former owners of his baby. "Hey, hey." He said suddenly, noticing the smile had slipped off her face at his little comment about her ruining his fun. "Smile. You use less muscles." What a fucking corny thing to say. You know what's even cornier? The fact that he actually reached across the table and used his fingers to physically turn her face up in a smile.

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows The best thing about their entire relationship. and even their entire friendship, so far? The fact that they were both the most awkward, corny, completely lame people on earth...in a good way of course. Even when they'd just been friends they were the champions of uber lame jokes that only they ever laughed at...especially on Jack's part, since his sense of humor was a little off. Much like his sense of style, which mostly consisted of whatever the hell he pulled out of his closet. Hey, he wasn't gay, he didn't have an excuse to dress all nice with matching colors and pretty shoes, or anything like that. Even if he was gay, not saying he was, but he'd totally be the butch in any relationship. Even if Ruby was so obviously taking the role of male in this little date...by paying for her own meal. But whatever, he'd just drop it and stop sounding like a whiny bitch before he grew boobs, or something. It really wasn't that big of a deal, so he'd just enjoy their little awkward comments and bask in the pleasure that was actually having a first date with Ruby. And hopefully having it follow up with many, many more.
Of course he wasn't using her for the fact that he was actually getting talked about now. Jack didn't care about popularity, he didn't take part in gossip, and people who did kind of annoyed him. If people wanted to say weird shit about him, fine, whatever. If they wanted to make him popular by saying he was a badass sexy vampire, best of luck to them. If they wanted to say he actually fought bears, which he definitely didn't, they could have fun with that. He wasn't going to go around acting fake, dating someone he didn't even really like, pretending to be something he wasn't, just to get a few words said about him and a few fans, foes, friends, whatever. At this point in time? All he needed was Ruby. Add that thought to the list of corny things about Jack, but it was true god damn it. Jack's dad, whom Jack had secretly been missing since he abandoned him, could show up with a million dollars and a better working car for him, and Jack would tell him to fuck off because at the moment he was happy. He wouldn't change anything in his life for a million dollars...well, except maybe sending heath to mars or something. Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. Not that he'd say it out loud...because he had a feeling Ruby still had a little soft spot for him. One that Jack wouldn't try poking at, not for a long time at least. Just like a baby, you had to give them time to harden up before you could start whacking them on the head without causing brain damage.
"I am pretty fucking badass." He agreed, even though it wasn't all that true. He was just...Jack. A geniuenly nice, overly honest, guy who just so happened to look badass because he stole shit. And as far as he could remember it sort of ran in his family, the badass look. His dad had that total badass thing going on...of course his dad had actually been a pimp. I'm not even kidding, he'd been an honest-to-god pimp. But that was something most people didn't know about Jack...anything about his background, his history, he refused to speak of his years before getting sent to the school. At least to anyone but Ruby, who he often joked about his dad being a pimp with. He'd never seriously told her about his childhood, but he had a feeling she knew how to read between the lines. Contrary to popular belief, she was a smart girl. And she was all his...for the time being. Of course Jack had kissed at girl. He was eighteen, how could he have not kissed a girl? He'd even had sex...once. But he was pretty sure no one other than the girl knew that, because they'd broken up shortly after. And it had been way back in his Sophomore year, when he'd just started going to Fitzgerald. And of course he wasn't going to tell Ruby about it. Talking about their sex lives? Yeah, no thanks. The last thing he wanted to do was hear about hers. Mainly because it was much more active than his was, for sure.
He couldn't help but smile as she moved his hand away from her face, mainly because she stayed hanging onto it. Yeah, the smile pasted on his face was probably starting to border on overly-happy, but he didn't really care. "I'm a special vampire." He said, nodding seriously, even though he was still wearing that fucking smiel on his face. "I'm just a big ol' loveable teddy bear of a vampire." Of course the teddy bear reference kind of made him flinch, even though he'd said it. Why was he afraid of bears, you ask? His dad liked to hunt. When Jack was little his father had a bear head stuffed and hung on the wall. Whenever he'd been in the sitting room he'd literally need to close his eyes. To this very day even the thought of that bear was enough to freak him out...or the thought of any other bear for that matter. They just looked so fucking vicious!

get me out of the rain, get me out of my clothes hope i don't make a sound, hope that nobody knows Really, Jack didn't exactly expect Ruby to be completely over jack ass...I mean Daniel yet. Even though he hadn't had much previous experience with women, and he'd definitely never actually thought he loved one (unless you count the lovely Ruby Cakes, of course) he knew for a fact that love didn't just disappear that quickly. So even if he secretly thought Ruby hadn't even really loved the fag, he knew it would be a while before she would honestly be able to say she didn't have any feelings for the bastard. Of course when she could honestly and truly say it he'd...be very happy? Throw her a party Reward her in some way? All of the above? Maybe he'd treat her like a dog and give her a treat. Okay, that last one's a joke, I promise. Does it really matter all that much? Even if Ruby was just figuring it out, Daniel was her past; Jack was her future. How far into her future he was he didn't really know...the little corny overly romantic part of Jack, the part that had kissed her on the cheek, liked to think it would be forever. But his pessemestic self kinda took over and said they'd get in some huge fight and lose their entire friendship and never speak again.
But would anything like that really happen? Wasn't it exactly what Delilah and that guy with the D name, the one that was friends with the vampire-rumor-spreading-Ace, did? Weren't they attached at the hip before they'd suddenly...what were they now? He'd heard rumors of their getting married or something, he honestly didn't care enough to keep up with their drama, as rude as that probably sounded. If they wanted to get married, let them do it. He knew he'd marry Ruby if he could...okay, that sounds creepy, but it's true. At this point in his life he couldn't think of anyone that wasn't Ruby that he wanted to marry. But...marrying usually meant sex...that he wasn't quite ready for, not with her. How funny is that? The kid's ready to marry Ruby...but not have sex with her. As appealing as the idea of a naked Ruby may be...it also made him nervous. Mainly because only three weeks ago she would have slapped him for thinking about it, but now what would she do? They were dating...it was normal, right?
"I think it might be my leather jacket." He said, in all seriousness. Not that he was wearing his weather jacket yet...but fall was coming soon, so he'd soon get to. Really, what about him was vampiric in any way? Okay..maybe his dark eyes, the fact that other than this day he wasn't one to smile much, the fact that he was muscular and tall...he wasn't that pale, although he was a lot paler than most people in his family. The fact that his father's family originated in Spain was actually a little known fact. Either way he was definitely not pale enough, nor sparkly enough, to be any Edward Cullen or anything. Even though he did sometimes put glitter on when he was bored...only to entertain Ruby, and it had only been one time. But now he'd have to do it more so he could sparkle in the sun and really give those kids something to talk about.
"I am your special vampire." He agreed, quite cornily, just as their food arrived. Of course Jack was starving his fat ass off...not that he was fat or anything. Like, not morbidly obese. The guy just liked to eat, okay? And he liked his meat...which may or may not sound slightly perverted and homosexual. And he liked his meat medium rare, which may or may not make the vampire rumors even worse. The second his food was in front of him, and he had about double what Ruby did, he took a huge bite of his hamburger, groaning at how good it tasted. Yeah...he was a pig. But he was her special pig, right? "This is fucking amazing." He said, once he'd swallowed his first bite and taken a drink. Come on, he may have been rude, but he did know better than to talk with a full mouth...sometimes.
