millions of years ago, the first evolution of humans, the alterans, lived in a galaxy far from ours, but much the same, proceeding along the evolutionary path to ascension. at the time, those who are now known as the ori and the ancients, were not distinguished from each other and lived in one society. however, a philosophical division emerged. over time, the ori grew more and more fervent in their religious belief, while the ancients adopted a more scientific outlook. ultimately, their viewpoints diverged so much that the two groups split apart and began to oppose each other, culminating in the ori attempting to destroy the ancients. the ori developed a plague designed with their own biological structure to weed out those who opposed them.
however being much the same as the ori on a biological level, many of the being we know today as ancients died due to this plague. some managed to flee their home galaxy instead of indulging the ori in war. and yet others managed to overcome the changes the plague brought and instead of dying, they developed side effects, a price for their survival, where many of their brothers and sisters died. much like the ancients, these changed beings fled the galaxy never to be heard from.
until now.
after the tau'ri's victory over the ori and their priors, they believed everything to be over, at least in the milky way galaxy. pegasus was still struggling with both the asurans and the wraith, and after so many years, attention could finally be focused on quelling their final enemies. the midway was designed and made to help this cause and all seemed to be going well for the fifth race, for once.
a few weeks after the priors still residing in the milky way had been shown the truth using the ark, a message came in from galar, stating that they needed earth's help in a grave matter.
"you don't understand!" emissary varta stared at sg-1's commanding officer, his eyes begging for mitchell to understand. "they're not just murders! at first, people just went missing, then we found a body with its organs... missing!!" he shook his head. "and three hours later, we found one of them."
the galarans had been infiltrated by a humanoid being that seemed to thrive at night. after effectively stunning an alien while feeding, they had contacted earth. emissary varta said the female creature had spoken directly into his mind during interrogation, although the said interrogation didn't conclude much aside from the fact that the alien was part of a race called the lilin, and that they sought their revenge on all alterans and their kin.
"the patient suffers from frail bones, most likely induced by the lack of vitamin d in her system," dr carolyn lam, chief medical officer of stargate command, told the team and the base's general. "i gave her a vitamin d supplement, but she went into shock after ten minutes, due to an allergic reaction."
the cmo had explained that the pale skin would indicate that the creature, identifying itself as 'lilin', received little to no sunlight, which would make sense, since uv-radiation created a reaction in human skin to manufacture vitamin d, something they were obviously allergic to. further investigation lead to the conclusion that the alien creature was directly descendant from the ancients, possessing a high concentration of the ATA gene.
days later, it broke out of the isolation chamber it was being held in and witnesses claim that the subject had bitten into the neck of an airman after he slammed against a wall seemingly by himself. the airman in question was shot by his colleagues after showing signs of rapid dna mutation and accelerated regeneration. the subject itself fled to the surface, where it was able to dodge six bullets before dying due to third degree burning of most of the body.
"the saliva of the creature seems to contain an altered form of the ori disease, sir," the cmo concluded, looking at the general with worry. "judging by all the test results i have gotten these last few days, i have come to believe that we are dealing with.. what is left over from the ancients after the ori plague. and if i may believe what the patient has been projecting into my mind over the course of those days, there are many. and they're coming, sir."
