an interview with brendon mitchell bonis (bones) usual therapist:
"brendon bonis is clearly a messed up kid, but he's trying, or at least i think he is. while sometimes he just sits in my chair and lets things go by and ignores me, other times we really do get down to business. and when i say that, i mean we get somewhere-- he really trusts me. on his good days, that is. i've been seeing brendon for three years now and i can honestly say that in my medical opinion that releasing him from the psychiatric center you currently have for him, will be what's best for him. sending him to fitzgerald academy will be in his best interest, he'll be able to start back in classes as well as get back into the swing of things with communicating to people. in the presence of people he may be able to help himself and they may be able to help him and whatever happens there will be staff there as long as hundreds of other teenagers who could very well be going some of the same things that brendon is going through. brendon was very well raised, and i've come to think that maybe his disorders were just invisible up until his depression. brendon has suffered from major depressive disorder since i've met him, that's why the bonis parents brought him to me in the first place. they were worried about brendon, they'd realized something was wrong, that their son just wasn't functioning correctly and they brought him to me. after the first week i'd come to realize that not only did he suffer from depression but also from other personality orders. in my own opinion, i believe that these disorders were underlying problems that have been in existence for some time before his bout of depression. while they may not have been clear it was always obvious to his parents that there was something a bit off with brendon and now we know what these underlying problems were. after being depressed, i shortly came to realize that brendon also suffered from avoidant personality disorder as well as paranoia personality disorder, paranoia being part of his case of schizophrenia. in all, brendon suffers from depression as well as avoidant and schizophrenia. it takes brendon a long time to start trusting someone, and when he does start to open up and warm up to someone i think that's when you find that you might really be headed somewhere. especially because he's told me numerous times that he can't even trust himself. brendon has been without a large amount or company of people beside him for some time. he was taken out of school in his sophomore year due to his depression and other personality disorders getting in the way, his mental instability was leaking through the cracks and his reality was mixing with his own fantasy world. his parents were right to have taken him out of school and started homeschooling him. brendon's depression reached an all time low in august, the time of his attempted suicide. brendon's parents found him in their home bathroom after coming home from dinner out one day where he had slit his wrists, he came quiet close to dying that night. after that it was best advised not only by myself but many other medical professionals that the bonis family seeked help from, to send him to the psychiatric center. it was for his own good until he was a tad bit more stable. at the psychiatric center i continued to see him for his own therapy sessions with myself, while he also had therapy sessions with a therapist at the center. brendon stayed in the center until mid december, where i then suggested to his parents that he would be better off at fitzgerald academy. if he stays medicated and watched over, he should be as fine as he could be."
