joaquin sat on his bed, bored out his mind, quietly tweeting and texting mindy matus. she was, indeed his girlfriends best friend, but that was, by no means his fault. he'd had an infatuation for mindy before she had ever come along, and although they'd been dating for almost five months now, he still couldn't quite want anyone but mindy. since he'd been thrown into this hell hole, he'd known he'd liked her. they'd hit it off on the first day, him sitting across from her at lunch. she hadn't bothered being chatty, or nosey, and she didn't care about her weight, or any other stupid issue that the girls of todays society's were engrossed in, and it intrigued joaquin. she was a natural beauty, blonde, and tall, and had a sort of grace about her that excluded arrogance. getz had arrogance, and he liked it, but it also bothered him some times. to be totally honest, he was sure he liked mindy because she wasn't like getz. because she was different than the crackheads, and whores running around fitzgerald. a refreshing sort of different, that joaquin admittedly needed. he scrolled quietly down her tweet wall, seeing daniel had been talking to her prior to their discussions of him needing a reason to see her. he didn't want to look desparate, and he didn't want getz to think that he was coming onto her best friend. true, he didn't like getz the same as he found himself liking mindy, but variety was the spice of life, and he'd never cheat. he could have girls that were friends, could he not? he rolled his eyes, replying back to her tweets, and stretched out, before leaning back, and closing his eyes. seconds later though, his phone buzzed again, and he opened them to see that she'd replied. their banter went on and on for about an hour until finally he just gave up on a reason to see her, and invited her over. there was no sense in acting as if they had anything to hide. they didn't, and were just good friends. he got up, pulled on a pair of clean jeans, and a clean dress shirt. he rolled up his sleeves, as per his usual, and walked into the bathroom to try and fix his hair. he didn't like looking like a bum, and he wasn't gay, no matter how many people accused him of being. didn't anyone take pride in their appearances anymore? delilah knew what he thought about it, and agreed. there were just very few people as of late, though, with taste, elegance and class. it was hard to find a decent friend. he'd lucked out, surprisingly, at fitzgerald. he had delilah, mindy, getz, danny, and a few others that he tolerated. delilah and danny were the only two however that knew he had a small inkling of an infatuation with anyone other than his girlfriend, and he trusted them. maybe even more than he should've.
joaquin heard a knock at the door, and flipped the bathroom switch off, before walking to the door, his shoes making a hollow sound on the clean tile floor. he was a slight perfectionist at times, and liked to have things clean. he opened the door, and smiled, "you here to give me my phone, miss matus?" he joked, referring to their tweets, and texts. he tried not to let his mind wander to the thoughts that were screaming in the very back, far corner. she was gorgeous, he couldn't help but admit. he'd always thought so. why though, did it not feel wrong to look at her? to want to be more than just friends? and to want to have an actual relationship with her when he was supposed to love his girlfriend?

HOW HAD THIS EVEN STARTED? Mindy Matus tried to stay away from romantic attachments at all cost. She had pretty much no previous experience with men…other than the little “incident” when she was thirteen, nearly fourteen, but that didn’t count. Everyone told her it didn’t count. She didn’t date. At all. Unless you counted the “date” that Danny had pretty much forced her into, but she didn’t. Really. And somehow the one guy who actually interested her was with her best friend. It made absolutely no sense. People in general scared the hell out of her…they were confusing. Even the few friends she’s aquired in the amount of time she’d been there, Joaquin, getz, maybe Danny even counted, even they confused her to the point where she was wary around them. Joaquin confused her the least…really, most of the time. Until he started…flirting with her. At least she was pretty sure it was flirting, she didn’t really know. And it was even more confusing when she started flirting back, even if she wasn’t sure if she was doing it right. Was there even a right way to flirt? It was on this note that she was sitting on her bed, her computer in front of her, feeling slightly confused…but of course that was pretty much her default mode, was it not? Somehow they had gotten to the point where she was going over to his room to…get his phone so he could call her. Whatever the hell that was even supposed to mean…although he’d admitted it was just an excuse for her to go see him, which kind of made her stomach feel funny…like how all those girls on those television shows felt, which was pretty much where she got all of her romantic experience. Really. Television shows. How pathetic was her life?
STANDING UP FROM HER BED the young blonde quickly shut her laptop, bought for her by her parents and looked down at her outfit. The fact that she was inwardly spazzing over what to wear to see her best friend’s boyfriend was most likely not a good thing…so instead of changing into something more flattering she simply stayed in her seemingly comfortable jeans-and-a-t-shirt topped with a leather jacket look. It wasn’t nearly as comfortable as it looked, but nothing in fashion ever really was, despite what some people who ‘dressed for comfort” maybe have argued. She quickly slipped on a pair of shoes, running a brush through her hair (which wasn’t natural, but most didn’t know that) and stepped out of her room, locking the door behind her. There were some crazy klepto’s floating around the school, she’d rather not go back to her room to find everything missing. Better safe than sorry. And with that she began walking down the halls, hardly taking in the face of anyone else, drifting off in her own thoughts, only hearing the sound of her shoes against the hard floor. The next thing she knew she was standing in front of her best friend’s boyfriend’s door, knocking, and it was opening to reveal Joaquin. And as always when she saw him, for some reason she didn’t even know, her lips spread into a bit of a smile. “Hi.” She said timidly, laughing lightly at his joke and shrugging her shoulders, walking into his room. With anyone else she would have been nervous about being alone, thinking of the millions of things that could go wrong…with Joaquin she was pretty much completely at ease. Spotting his phone lying on his bed she made her way over, picking it up and holding it out to him. “My work here is done, I suppose.” She said jokingly…how she could even manage a full sentence when her stomach was doing flip-flops was beyond her, but she managed. Which was odd because with anyone else she couldn’t do as much on normal terms. “So how are you?” She was just trying to make conversation, really…even if it was a lame attempt. “Where’s….your girlfriend?” STATUS :: finished WORDS :: 668 TAGS :: joaquin <3 OUTFIT :: clickNOTES :: sorry about the slight failure CREDITS :: me, of course

joaquin stared. he knew it rude of him, and once her eyes locked his gaze, he knew he'd been caught, but rather than putting on a guilty face, he gave her an innocent smile, and looked down. he was relaxed, not caring about getz, and not thinking of her, nor how wrong it was that he had so vicariously fallen for their best friend. his sudden 'free' turned into more of a free fall when he practically winced at the mention of his girlfriend. he sighed, took a timid step towards mindy, his hand unknowingly smoothing his hair back, before he regained his stature. "no idea whatsoever." he simply shrugged. was it wrong that he didn't know? or worse, didn't care? "aren't you girls supposed to know where each other all at times?" he laughed, "thought you traveled in heards, and had tracking devices on your purses" he was joking, of course. joaquin always tried to joke his way out of things. he wasn't immature, and surprisingly he was fairly humorous if he were making a straight attempt. he seemed to refer to his jokes as a new sense of smoothing things out in life. his mother had told him, 'laugh, and the world laughs with you ; cry, and you cry alone.' he'd at the time, thought it was fairly stupid, but in retrospect, knew what she'd meant. he smiled, holding onto the phone a moment longer than necessary when she handed it to him, keeping his eyes locked with his, "your work is never done, dear." he shook his head, before looking at his phone, and seeing he'd received a new message. he pocketed the device without looking, or wondering. when he was with mindy, he didn't seem to want to talk to anyone else, nor did anyone captivate his attention and audience as she did. getz had never understood him completely, she'd never tried. and while they got along, and he cared very much about her, he didn't see her like mindy, and he didn't feel the way he did around her as he did when mindy was standing infront of him.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS WAS COMPLETELY WRONG. as petra's best friend she shouldn't have allowed herself to be alone with him...like this. however "this" was, she wasn't really sure at this point in time. she definitely shouldn't have been looking at him like she was...or feeling the butterflies that seemed to always be visiting her stomach as of late. at least when he was around. but she really couldn't help it...when he invited her over, she'd known she should have said no...but at the same time she'd known she couldn't. she couldn't ever say no to him, really, which was kind of sick. she was pretty sure that he could ask her to rob a bank with him and she'd oblige. and yet she couldn't help but cringe a little bit as he said he didn't know where petra was. petra, her best friend and his girlfriend. both of them should have known where she was, and either of them did. they were both horrible people...more her than him, because she was unsure of if he even felt about her the way she did him.
"YES WELL I MUST HAVE LOST MY TRACKING DEVICE." She teased quietly, glancing at him warily as he took a step forward her. with anyone else she would have been nervous about them approaching her, with joaquin she wasn't...she was just nervous about the way it made the butterflies in her stomach go insane. but it was hardly her fault...he was charming, he was good looking, he could make her laugh, and she actually felt comfortable around him. while all but the latter weren't exactly rare, the last one was enough to make up for any downfalls he may have had...even the fact that he was currently dating her best friend. and of course the best friend factor didn't stop her from locking eyes with him once more as she passed him his cell phone...noting that he seemed to keep his hand on it a few beats too long, but assuming it was all in her head. but instead of saying anything as he pocketed his phone she just laughed lightly and blushed, looking away, knowing that everything about this was just about as wrong as it could get. "i guess it's not." she murmured lightly, sliding out of the leather jacket she'd been wearing and placing it neatly on his bed, before turning back to him and letting her eyes drift over him once more. she was unsure of what to say...but it didn't really matter all that much. their silences were pretty comfortable.[/blockquote] STATUS :: finished WORDS :: 420 TAGS :: joaquin <3 OUTFIT :: clickNOTES :: this is uber short and horrid. my apologies.
