YOU ARE THE SATIN NOOSE,i've been saving up to buy you. DANNY WAS ALWAYS THE INITIATER. he was the one to ask someone out, he was not patient enough to wait. no. danny never had any luck in his relationships, they usually end sour & unsavory, but hey, they left him with good memories.. and some pretty neat bruises. but we're not here to talk about that, now are we? this is mindy. this quin's mindy.. only, she's not his. not as far as danny is concerned. he has his girlfriend. and mindy is just the mousy best friend. is he not allowed to be interested? lets try and take a few steps back. danny wasn't interested.. danny was never really, interested. not before the other party was. that just wasn't the way it worked, he was the kid that could charm his way into your heart with his smile, even when he was just a wiley little six year old with his front tooth knocked out. ha, lets not picture that -- lets concentrate on the sexy boy standing next to the blonde right past the theme park gates. he glanced over at her, not sure what she was thinking right now, and for the first time in, maybe ever, danny smiled, not 'cos he knew what was going on. but because he didn't. he had no idea what was going in mindy mattus' head, and that thrilled him. part of him was pleading the dr phil excuse, he wanted to figured her out, and break her, and be well.. that kid that could get into anyone's head. but maybe he didn't really want to change mindy, maybe he liked not understanding the mechanical workings of someone's fucked up mind for once. it wasn't like he could help himself from trying to figure it out -- but it wasn't like mindy would be of any help. he remembered her as an outrageous child -- much like unlike himself at that age. she was cute, outgoing, a bit of a princess. maybe that was why danny wanted some time with her so badly. not that he wanted to know what could change a person that way, but more like wanting to be able to relate to someone who had been through a huge transition like him.
danny wasn't always danny. he was a quiet a kid. he was rude, but he had no intention of putting his charm and wit to use. no, when he was a kid, he was preoccupied watching his dad kill himself. several times. over. and over. he still carried his own scars on his exposed arms right then and there. awkward slashes that remained a memory of his own twisted masochism. that was danny. he hadn't gone near a razor for a while, well, with the exception of shaving -- which he didn't do to often either, ha. thats beside the point, right? danny de luca was a different person than he was a few years. just like mindy. for once, in a school full of crazy jackoffs, he found someone he thought was remotely sane. yeah, he heard about that "whackjob" label, but he didn't see anything wrong her. so she was a bit scared. it was much more creative than being obnoxiously loud. he offered his hand and gave her a look, "unless you're scared of germs or something," he teased her, before shrugging a bit, not really expecting her to take his hand. baby steps. he told himself. his "dr phil"ness acting up again. he licked his lips, his eyes wandering around the whole setting for a second as if to make sure everything was sound and to his liking, then looked back at mindy and hooped his arm through hers, this time not asking, just doing. he began with a slow stride, "you're thinking why did i bring you here, right? well. actually, i don't really know what you're thinking, but i'm usually good at guessing," emphasis on usually, you like being scared, don't you? well, i was thinking about it, and i don't know how i could ever disagree with you, i love scaring myself shitless,"
he smiled, and nodded towards the biggest ride in the entire park which they could see from the entrance itself. in his head, it was more poetic, but he wasn't about to let that show. that thought in his head, that said, on this stupid rides that made us scream, for a few seconds, everyone felt the same, everyone took the same risk, and most of the time, they all made it out alive together. damn it. why did danny think like this? why did everything have to be fucked up shakespeare dr phil love child? it was a side he rarely showed, and usually only to some his friends, his friends which were rare enough as it were. his friends, which were hooking up and leaving him rather annoyed. of course, he had his dad. his dad, who was pressuring him into art -- no, it couldn't be the cliché "i want you to make something out of yourself" parent/child argument, with easy it was more like "i want you to make something of this world." easy was a hard man to impress, and despite danny's intellect & charm that won over million dollar clients, he was not even slightly impressed. he ran his hand through his hair, wishing he just empty out his head right there on their way to the green monster, or whatever the fuck the ride was ridiculously named. but that was the point of the ride, right? he glanced at mindy for a second, wondering if it was obvious that his mind was in a battle of its own, wondering if her mind was in the same situation. he had no idea what to expect from this petite blonde girl, and he had no idea if she could tell that daniel de luca liked her. 'cos really, not even danny himself could see it.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

There were a lot of things that Mindy was unsure of…the list could quite honestly go on for days. But currently the one thing that was confusing her more than anything on earth was a man who went by the name of Daniel De Luca. Okay, maybe he wasn’t a man per say…he was only eighteen. Two years older than her…but none the less his motives confused her…and only made her paranoid self even more on edge. And yet despite that, while others would have backed off, he just kept pressing. Admittedly a lot of things that shouldn’t have confused her all that much did…she confused herself most of the time. She wasn’t stupid, or slow, or anything of the sort…but people’s motives tended to confuse her in general. She didn’t understand why her friend Joaquin would be dating her other friend and yet be acting like he liked her…although she didn’t know much about romance at all, so maybe she was reading the little signs all wrong. Or maybe she was just a pathetic little kid with a crush on a guy who wasn’t all that right for her at all, either one. But honestly, she wasn’t sure how to deal with…whatever it was Danny was doing. Not that she was never…persued or anything. There were people who tried to get her to spend time with them, and after a few polite no’s they tended to leave her alone. However she’d lost count of how many times he had texted her asking if she was busy and she’s said yes, she was…and he just kept asking. Could he not get a clue, really? Was it that hard to tell that she just wasn’t interested? It was nothing personal…there were a precious few people who she would allow herself to be interested in. Humans in general, while they were fascinating at times, scared her. And so she made a rule of steering clear of them completely…not including her two best friends, of course. But definitely including Daniel De Luca. Everything about him scared her, even more than possible…the fact that he seemed to want to “hang out” with her so badly, that she didn’t even know why…that he called her a mouse. Not that the mouse thing was a first, but still. Most only said it behind her back. And the fact that he had known her before she was…this. Whatever this was. Back when she was younger, before she was messed up and sent here by her concerned parents.
No one else here knew about her…which was why she took careful care of staying as far away from Danny as she could. But somehow he kept worming his way closer to her, no matter how many tricks she used to get away from him. In a polite way, of course, as Mindy had never had a mean bone in her body…although there were admittedly moments when she just wanted to step on his foot with a pair of her heels and tell him to leave her alone. Please and thank you, of course. But she refrained because she was raised to be polite…and because he was friends with Joaquin, and anyone who was friends with him was…well, not friends with her, but going to be treated nicely. How she had got herself into this mess she was completely unsure. She’d said she was busy, even though she hadn’t given him an excuse. She never did. And somehow he said hew as picking her up at six…and instead of arguing she’d just asked what she should wear, since he said their destination was supposed to be a surprise, or something along those lines. Surprises scared Mindy…of course. Mainly because her surprises were rarely good ones. They were things like being sent here, one of her favorite outfits being chewed to pieces by her dog…someone waiting for her in her bed room…though she tried her hardest to forget about the last, it always ended up popping back up in her mind. Luckily, and she hadn’t thought she’d ever hear herself say this, Danny was there…because it was quickly pushed back out once he offered his hand to her. For a moment she just looked at him in disbelief, not taking it…and not laughing at his joke, just shaking her head. She was not afraid of germs, thank you very much…her fears all had reasons…well, kind of. Mostly. She couldn’t help but flinch a little bit as she felt his arm through hers…physical contact. She wasn’t a fan of it…really. She always looked like she was expecting someone to hit her when they so much as touched her shoulder. But she just let out a sigh and listened to him speak, probably seeming like she wasn’t paying much attention although she was. He had it all wrong…really. She didn’t like being scared, she just was. And she was just about to say as much when her eyes caught attention of exactly what he was talking about.
A ride. How had she not expected this? Somehow she’d hoped her surprise was something nice…like cotton candy. And at the same time…she hadn’t really been on any sort or die since she was younger. She hadn’t even been near one. They all looked so…dysfunctional. Like at any moment they were going to fall to pieces. “No.” She blurted out, shaking her head at the ride. “That’s way too…big. Isn’t there something smaller? With a nicer name…that doesn't look as though it's going to fall apart?” She trailed off, probably speaking more out loud than she ever had around this particular person, her lips turned down in a frown…like they had been pretty much ever since he’d picked her up. She had half a mind to explain to him that she really didn’t like being scared…she just didn’t want any more change…but in a way she liked that he didn’t understand her. And deep down she liked the attention that came with it. Not that she’d admit it to anyone…ever. And so instead she just stood there shaking her head, pulling her arm out from his and crossing her arms.

YOU ARE THE SATIN NOOSE,i've been saving up to buy you. HE RELAXED HIS EYES AGAINST HER, but couldn't hide the awe in his voice, he had picked up right away. you've never been on a rollercoaster right?"
a lot of this confused him about this, the fact that he recalled exactly the loud & amazing outgoing girl she was, and the fact that well.. oh, god. this was brilliant. he stopped, realizing even his general analysis of the girl had been wrong. a dry laugh escaped his lips more to himself than her obviously. he smiled at her and actually thought about what she was waiting for a moment, and for a split second he looked convinced and nodding he said, "no, you're going on that ride. its forty seconds. you'll feel great after," this coming from an adrenaline junkie. ha, maybe this was a bad idea after all, maybe danny wouldn't know how to just be around mindy, no matter how much he wanted it. maybe he was too dynamic for the mousy bleach blonde girl. maybe she was for quin. oh god. quin. why didn't he think about his friend sooner? why did he brush off quin's "liking" of mindy as something that would pass? it was a trivial little thing. he had a girlfriend. then again, why was danny ignoring all his good dr phil instincts and pretended that it wouldn't affected quin in any way at all? no. he wasn't doing anything wrong. nobody said he wanted to be more than just friends. he just wanted to know mindy, and part of him needed it just as much joaquin did. so maybe it was wrong. maybe there was something wrong with the image of the blonde junior standing there with the reputable coffee-haired male that stood taller, stronger, and with more confidence than many of his fellow classmates could ever exude. the look on her face when he offered her his hand, "okay, i was just saying, not like i said i was going to kill you. chill." crap. why did everything he do seem to be a mistake around her? he shrugged it off, and nodded towards the ride, "look, just trust me for a few minutes, i wouldn't make you do anything stupid or dangerous. its a rollercoaster ride. i've been on it a million times," he tried very hard not to the laugh at the memories he had of dragging both quin & delilah on the ride, even a few dates -- some that were totally up for it, others that sunk their nails so deep into danny's skin he was pretty sure the cuts still hadn't healed, "we can go on other rides, too. like the merry go-round," he offered at the ride that was actually much closer than the green.. monster.. hulk.. whatever, so he was bad with names. and he wasn't even sure if she would go for the merry-go-round. some people liked it. it actually made danny dizzy. going around and around in circles, and the horses going up and down and up and down all the while.. yeah, danny wasn't a big fan of repetitive movements. unless they were quite the, ahem, satisfying kind. this is where all those ex girlfriends come in. those ex-girlfriends. girlfriends. getz and joaquin. he needed to get this out of his head, right now. at least he had a great of not showing that it was on his mind, like she gave a damn. he knew these scenarios, she probably had a thing for joaquin, and he had a thing for her, and the spark would ignite, and the girlfriend would freak out and flip out but in the end, she'd let them be. and they'd live happily ever after with the extra insecurities that every couple had 'cos mindy would be too scared to admit something bothered her, and joaquin would be too proud. he was crazy. wasn't he? he was already hating on a relationship that hasn't even happened yet. maybe this was why he was in this twisted messed up school. he scrunched up his nose and stood back for a second, not even knowing what to do or say anymore. there was definitely some sort of insanity here, for liking this slight state of confusion he got whenever the girl said something. "we'll do whatever you want," he surrendered, "merry-go-around, bumper cars, but at the end of the day," he pointed at the massive roller coaster, he offered his hand to shake on it, "yeah?" ha, wow, he never enjoyed the suspense like he was now. Why was the fact that she’d never been on a roller coaster that surprising? Really. Did she seem like the type to go on such things? Okay, fine, he’d known her as a young child…when she had definitely been the type to go on such rides, but her parents hadn’t brought her to any amusement parks for some reason that was beyond her. They brought her to parks and beaches and pretty much everywhere a child would enjoy playing except for an amusement park. She let out a light sigh shrugging her shoulders lightly. “I’ve never been on any…rides, like that. Or any of the rides here. I’ve never been to such a place.” She admitted, trying to make it sound like it wasn’t a big deal, because it really wasn’t. It wasn’t like she was admitting to never have watched television or something along those lines, it was just a ride, no big deal. Right? And of course she just looked at him doubtfully for a moment when he said she’d feel great after it…no, she wouldn’t. She was not interested in dying, or breaking a limb, or something along those lines, no matter how much this man seemed to be. And maybe she was just being paranoid…she was actually diagnosed with a case of paranoia. But she didn’t even care by this point in time. “If that’s the kind of thing that makes you feel great I don’t even want to know what makes you feel horrible…” She mumbled, shaking her head lightly and sighing. People made no sense to her, truly. Who would enjoy going on a ride like that? Everyone was screaming, and yet they looked…happy, shocked, scared, all at the same time. How was anyone capable of feeling so many emotions at once? How was it even healthy?
She quickly looked away and back to Danny’s face, shaking her head immediately, barely paying any attention to what he was saying. She had a feeling she didn’t really want to hear it. He told her to trust her like it was an easy thing, like trusting was like breathing, or blinking, and maybe it was for some people….but Mindy was not one of those people. It was easier to not trust people, to question their motives, wonder what they wanted from her. It wasn’t the best way to make friends, but Mindy was happy with her small circle of friends, truly. There were only a few people she could even start to feel comfortable around…Joaquin and his girlfriend, mainly. While Danny was sort of a friend, mostly because he was friends with her friends, she still couldn’t feel at ease around him. On the contrary he almost put her on edge more than other people did. “Merry-go-rounds are for children, are they not?” No, she’d never been on one of those either…but she was fairly sure only kids went on, with their parents there to make sure they didn’t fall off or something. And Mindy was not a child, thank you very much…and Danny was not her father, so despite the fact that the merry-go-round looked much friendlier, almost fun, she was putting her foot down when it came to that as well.
And he just had to keep pressing for this…roller coaster. Why couldn’t he take no for an answer? Not when she said she didn’t want to spend time with him, nor when she said she wasn’t interested in going on one of these rides with him. Why couldn’t he be a normal guy and take her to the movies and try to mac with her so she could slap him or something? At least then she could have an excuse and not feel like a bitch when she did it. As it was she just wanted to leave and go home…too bad she’d be stuck walking, and she was raised to be more polite than that. Even though about an hour earlier she’d strongly considered standing the poor guy up. “As much fun as all of that sounds…I don’t think so. The bumper cars look like they could kill someone, even if they aren’t intended for that.” yes, she was well aware that she was being completely paranoid. “The merry-go-round, as stated previously, is for children. And I am politely refusing to step foot on that green…thing. Maybe this was a bad idea…” There was no maybe about it. Not just the setting…the entire thing.

YOU ARE THE SATIN NOOSE,i've been saving up to buy you. HE SIGHED NOT TRYING TO HIDE HIS FRUSTRATION, but he wouldn't be admitting that she was right any time soon. danny did not admit defeat, no matter how many times he'd meet that son of a bitch. he took his hand back, running it through his hair instead and trying to of a way to get this girl to compromise. he had half a mind to pick her up and just take her to the ride forcefully. somewhat like this date. what, now he was some sort of third degree kidnapper? this girl was doing funny things to him. the only thing that really made sense in his head right now was that ice cream that looked like it was coming out of mindy's head right now. dingdingding. hopefully, that would be the jackpot? he just needed to get her relaxed, and he had a feeling they'd definitely be going on the merry go round. and for once, when the girl explained that she hadn't been on a ride like that, well.. just because. danny didn't have much to say. no random babble to counteract it, he did the one thing he often never tried except with his dad. he just took it in. there no deeper meaning in that. "you haven't been on the ride, don't judge it." he sung the words keeping his eyes on the monster ride, "you don't even know if you'll like it or not."
he was quite sure she didn't intend for him to here those few words, followed by the sigh. and for some reason, the words actually hit him pretty hard. he liked this thrilling things, he liked sky diving, he liked fast cars, roller coasters.. what made him feel horrible? family things. lack of family. stability. needing someone like he needed his friends. if let himself just go through the movements everyday, danny de luca would not be alive right now. maybe he inherited it from his father. but he wasn't going to think about it. he wouldn't even dare think the word, afraid that somehow, somehow will break into his mind and figure it out. it was funny, he could barely trust himself to think something and there he was asking the fragile little mouse to trust him. "i'm not asking you to trust me with your life, just with a few -- not even one minute of your time. the ride is like forty seconds, i swear," he tried when he noted the look of horror on her face. "aren't we mature." he scoffed. "merry go rounds are for the child in you, and thats not bad. i've been on it a million times with my dad, when we came last year..." he trailed off using his own family as an example wasn't really as effective. it would never be. they weren't a family. they were some old guy that happened to have this little kid running around.
danny blinked. no. fucking. way. there was more wrong with this girl than he'd ever understand, wasn't there? he sighed, and put his face in his hands for a second. this is impossible. why am i even trying? he thought to himself, before looking back up at her, "maybe it is." he said under his breath, intending on the words staying strictly to himself. he knew this was a bad idea, and obviously, so did she. so why did he still want to stay there? in his own stupid mess. why did he have to enjoy something so dysfunctional? why did the functional things have to bore him to tears? "lets just get some ice cream, maybe win ourselves some stuff spongebobs or whatever?" he offered calmly, secretly ready to snap if she went off about that being dangerous. maybe this wouldn't work, ever. the two of them, just generally being around eachother. daniel craved danger. mindy was well, scared of it. and as he lead her towards the little ice cream place he glanced over at her, "you're so strange," in those three words there was no annoyance, no confusion, nothing you that would usually accompany them. instead there was a tinge of amusement, and well, appeasement.

Ice cream and stuffed sponge bobs…that didn’t sound like such a bad idea. She really couldn’t think of how that could be dangerous in any way, unless she was lactose intolerant, which luckily she was not. In fact that liked ice cream…and she didn’t see how winning stuffed things could hurt. And she didn’t want to hurt his feelings and say that she’d rather they just leave all together, even if it was the truth. That would just be incredibly rude, would it not? “I guess there’s no harm in ice cream…unless I get a brain freeze, or something.” The last part was obviously a joke…despite the fact that a lot scared her, she was not afraid of something so simple as a brain freeze. Following him over to the little ice cream place she looked around, taking in the faces of the other people, but still sticking close to Danny as not to get lost or anything. She couldn’t help but laugh as he called her strange and she shrugged her thing shoulders as though she’d heard it a million times, which she actually had. “Yeah, I guess I am.” She replied simply, noting that he didn’t really seem like he minded…it wasn’t like he was telling her to leave him alone because of it or anything. Instead he’d pretty much kidnapped her to go on this…date? Was it a date? She didn’t even really know. She didn’t even really know if she wanted it to be a date…she’d never really been on a date before. Why had she agreed to this? Oh, wait, she hadn’t. “You’re pretty strange too, though.” She added as an afterthought, shooting him a pathetic excuse of a smile and then facing herself with the tough choice of what kind of ice cream she wanted.
Generally Mindy liked to try and keep it safe…with everything. Plain vanilla or chocolate, strawberry or even chocolate chip cookie dough when she was being really adventurous. So basically she stuck with the few things that she knew she liked, figuring it was safer than getting something she might not like and having wasted money on it. Not that she was exactly low on money, but whatever. Having an ice cream you didn’t like was never very much fun, was it? However she was also pretty sure that Danny would make fun of her usual order of plain vanilla on a plain cone…wait, why did she care? He was probably going to make fun of her no matter what she did. She was pretty sure that the only thing she could do right around this guy was to agree to that…ride or whatever, but she was most definitely not going to do that. She’d made her mind up the second she saw the damned thing and had no immediate plans on changing that. Ever. And she also didn’t have any plans on changing her usual order of vanilla ice cream. So without even giving Danny a second look she turned to the man selling ice cream, ignoring the fact that ordering things from such places always made her feel on edge (then again, what didn’t?), and mumbled her order just loud enough for human ears to hear. “I’ll have a plain vinella cone. Small. Thanks.”
And then she was faced with another challenging though. Who was going to pay? She’d have no issue paying for herself, really…or for him if he needed it. Her parents always made sure she had money on her at all times, just in case. Even if they weren’t exactly around to do it a lot of the time…but that wasn’t their fault. But if he paid, didn’t that automatically mean this was a date or something? Was he expecting to pay because of that? Was it rude of her not to be pulling out her money, or something along those lines? “Wait…” She mumbled, her cheeks blushing a faint pink as she turned to Danny, feeling more embarrassed than anything else. “Who’s going to be paying? Because I can pay, I just thought it safe to ask…in case you’re one of those macho guys who is going to insist upon paying, or something. If that’s the case I’m not going to argue with you like most girls might…” She was rambling…yes, that was rare for her. She wasn’t the type to ramble when she was nervous. She was more the type to just shut up. But she was more embarrassed than nervous…which was why she was rambling. Right. Okay. And with that she shut up and just looked at him in a questioning way.

YOU ARE THE SATIN NOOSE,i've been saving up to buy you. HE WAS RELIEVED THAT IT WORKED. yes. he knew there was a good chance she'd just get up and leaeve, 'cos this probably wasn't worth it. he had practically.. no, not practically -- he had really just forced her into coming here. it wasn't like he pushed her in a car and brought her here, it was more subtle kidnapping. "brain freeze can terrifying, but don't worry, i'll hold your hand," his words kept the humor in the conversation alive for a little longer, and for a brief little moment he shared a small, special kind of smile with her. and he hoped she wouldn't really read into it, 'cos well, that was the point of being around mindy wasn't it. not having to read into all of her actions, 'cos he knew that road was a dead end anyway. there were few ways into her mind, and although he could just get his hands on her file and read all about it, part of him actually wanted to stay out of there. for once, he wanted a normal short of relationship with people, like the ones everyone else had. ha, that was kind of weird wasn't it -- he was looking for a quote unquote normal relationship friendship, and he was coming to mindy mattus. it wasn't like she was known for being normal. "you're pretty strange too." danny couldn't help but let a dry laugh escape his lips, "give it a while, i may seem strange, but its nothing out of the ordinary."
"oh vanilla? we're being creative, aren't we?" he couldn't help it. it was hard danny to bite back these remarks, and you had to remember, to 89 percent of the population danny didn't even try holding back this snippy little remarks, and the little evidence of the effort he put into being somewhat considerate of a person's feelings -- before they had managed to snag a slot as a friend like say, joaquin or delilah -- it had to be immensely appreciated. of course, it never was. 'cos he was still somewhat a douche packer. but the truth was, this of course trailing back to the ice cream, he was more like her than she knew. for five years, danny hasn't changed the flavor of ice cream he ordered the same flavor, although it wasn't as obvious as mindy's it was safe. danny just didn't like taking his chances with ice cream, 'cos the minty stuff tasted like shit, and sometimes the nuts weren't fresh, and who the fuck put coffee in ice cream? "i'll have the gold medal ribbon," hey, it sounded cool right? basically vanilla & chocolate & caramel, basically the only ice cream flavor danny has eaten since he enrolled in this school. despite his father's attempts to introduce him to new flavors, danny was reluctant, and if there were ever a stubborn person, it would be daniel de luca. despite him just letting mindy get her way just now, he wouldn't usually allow it. then again, this part of danny was afraid that mindy would shatter at the touch, so he decided maybe it wasn't best to push her more than he already did. as he dug the spoon into the scoop of cold sweetness in front of him, he listened to her short ramble and then pulled his wallet out of his pocket and moved his gaze away from her, "i'm gonna pretend those twenty five seconds didn't just happen. but i'll pay. not because i'm.. macho, or want something from you, or whatever reason you might be thinking. i'm going to pay because its polite, and i was the one who invited you to come here, kay?" his "ramble" was more eloquent than hers, and hey, he did get to a point in the end right? he couldn't help but be amused by how concerned she actually was about just.. paying for some ice cream. as he pulled out a chair to offer a seat before sitting down himself, "you know, i think thats the most i've ever heard from you. and it was about paying. for ice cream," he took a spoonful of the cold dessert and looked at her, "so, why vanilla, mouse?" mouse. he liked calling her that, mice were cute. mousy described mindy to the t, and despite the fact that it may not seem like it -- it was actually a term of endearment. yeah, don't tell quin that.

The truth was that Mindy over thought everything, even if it didn’t always seem like it. That was actually why she was so…nervous around people. She over thought everything they did, from looking at her to tying their shoe laces or something equally irrelevant. And that was one of the main reasons she found people so…confusing, really. She couldn’t understand anything about them. She could barely understand herself half of the time, how was she expected to be able to decipher everything about complete and utter strangers? Which was why she always felt more comfortable around the few people she allowed herself to get close to. She could at least understand them slightly…even if there were things about Joaquin and Getz that still confused her, she could kind of understand them for the most part. Danny, however, she was pretty sure she would never understand. Really. Why he was even so interested in her she didn’t understand…or why he had forced her into whatever this was. Or why he hadn’t just given up on the whole thing by this point in time. She couldn’t help but wrinkle her nose in mock disgust as he offered to hold her hand…but she was only joking. Really. She was a polite girl…even if she really didn’t want to hold his hand. “I think I’ll be fine.” she replied, smiling awkwardly, unsure of why she felt so awkward…she was pretty sure she shouldn’t have felt this awkward. About any of it. But she did…which was why this entire thing had obviously been a bad idea. And why she hadn’t wanted to agree to it…oh, wait, she hadn’t.
The young blonde rolled her eyes as he predictably mocked her choice in ice cream but said nothing. She knew she was boring…she liked boring, it was much safer. Even if her choice sounded lame compared to what he’d picked out. And didn’t even look half as pretty…but vanilla was a classic, she knew she was going to like it, so she was going to stick with it. She had kind of been predicting that she was going to say he’d pay…for the simple fact that he seemed like the type to. So she merely shrugged her shoulders as he went on about paying…but some how sounded much less awkward than she had when she’d done it. Probably because Mindy was pretty much the most awkward person on the face of the planet…she had her own secret believing that she could make just about any situation awkward, which was why she usually kept her mouth shut. Well, one of the numerous reasons.
Shooting him a polite smile she sat down, taking the first lick of her ice cream and looking around…just for something to do. She was well aware that it was probably the most he’d heard her speak…it was probably the most she’d spoken around anyone but perhaps Joaquin and his girlfriend in a long time. “yes, well…” She replied awkward, unsure of really what to say. Though she couldn’t help but let out a bit of a laugh as he asked why she chose vanilla…which she’d been expecting him to do…and called her mouse, which she kind of liked, in a weird way. It was….cute. “I like vanilla. It’s safe. It’s a classic. There’s nothing…scary about it.” She replied simply, knowing he was going to find some way to tease her about that…come to think of it, it wouldn’t be that hard. She was pretty sure she sounded completely lame when she went on about how safe she was being…but unlike most people she wasn’t really looking for a thrill in her life. She was perfectly fine with her vanilla flavored ice cream, keeping almost everyone at arm’s length, emotionally and physically. “What about you…why that…ribbon thing?” She was asking more out of something to say and politeness than actual curiousness…he probably chose it because it looked tasty. The same reason anyone but she would choose something to eat.
